Participant in the Bodrum competition

· Bodrum Health Foundation

We entered the National Architectural Project Competition for a Physiotherapy and Hydrotherapy Centre, opened by the Bodrum Health Foundation with the Bodrum Representation of the Chamber of Architects’ Muğla Branch. The single-stage national competition was announced on 4 November 2024 for a site at plot 6, block 259, in the Konacık neighbourhood of Bodrum.

Entries were submitted on 14 January 2025. The jury, chaired by Özgür Bingöl, completed its work on 3 February 2025, having assessed 177 projects. The submitted schemes were exhibited at the Bodrum Heredot Cultural Centre from 5 to 15 February 2025, and the colloquium was held there on 15 February.

The entry was prepared by Selen Baş Ağca, Kutbeddin Ağca and Ethem Ünal. Our scheme was not among the prizewinners; it took part as a participant. The design ties recovery not to a single moment but to a process carried through the whole building: the pool hall is one volume with columns on all four sides, the physiotherapy hall looks out over the hills from the floor above, and the treatment rooms are arranged around the inner courtyard.

For the project data, the plans and all the images, see Bodrum Hydrotherapy Centre.
