A paper at IPCMC 2026
Kutbeddin Ağca will present a paper at the 9th International Project and Construction Management Conference, meeting in Gaziantep on 16-18 October 2026 and hosted by Hasan Kalyoncu University. This year’s theme is rethinking the built environment through artificial intelligence.
The paper, written with Prof. Dr. Almula Köksal, examines how social acceptance of a megaproject shifts over its life, taking Istanbul Airport as its case. Some 141,336 Turkish-language posts from 2010 to 2026 are classified with the help of a large language model across four phases: announcement, tender, construction and operation.
The finding is that acceptance does not mature along a straight line: it is at its most negative at announcement, turns to support at tender, slips back during construction and recovers in operation.
