Six-storey residential building with garden level and roof floor; two apartments per floor
A residential building on a sloping plot in Kordonboyu, Kartal, read as six storeys from the street. The slope adds a garden level at the lower end and the hipped roof a roof floor. The facade is built from white rendered frames and, inside them, anthracite balcony panels that shift from floor to floor; a band of planters along their top edge turns the balconies into a green line when seen from the street. The plan is resolved with two apartments either side of a central stair and lift core, with the entrance at the middle of the long facade. The top-floor apartments connect by internal stairs and a gallery void to the roof floor, with terraces cut into the roof. The project was developed in a single Revit model, from which plans, section, elevations and visualisations were produced.
  • Six-storey white residential building seen from the street corner; anthracite balcony panels, dark roof, trees and a neighbouring block
  • Facade close-up: anthracite parapet panel inside a white rendered frame, with plants trailing over its edge
  • Facade from below: stacked white frames, wide windows, anthracite balcony panels and the dark eaves
  • Front facade seen head-on: anthracite balconies shifting from floor to floor, each with a band of planters
  • Location plan: the long narrow plot between two streets in the fabric running down to the shore
  • Site plan: five parking spaces at the street end of the long narrow plot, side garden and trees, and the building set at the rear
  • Garden level plan: storage and service rooms buried in the slope, stair and lift core, and a single apartment opening to the garden at the lower end
  • Ground floor plan: entrance at the middle of the long facade into the stair and lift core, with two two-bedroom apartments either side
  • Typical floor plan: two apartments either side of the core, with planted balconies
  • Top floor plan: winder stairs in both apartments leading up to the roof floor
  • Roof floor plan: bedrooms under the hipped roof, a gallery void, internal stairs and terraces cut into the roof
  • Section: the floors from garden level to roof floor on the sloping ground, stair and lift core, and the roof floor under the hipped roof
  • Front elevation: anthracite balconies in a checkerboard, the entrance door at the centre, the garden level exposed by the slope and the hipped roof, with trees on both sides
  • Side elevation: the narrow facade beside the adjoining neighbour, windows with French balconies, projecting balconies and the hipped roof
